If you try blowing thru the trumpet and no air comes out of the trumpet, you have the valves turned around wrong when you put them back in either from oiling the trumpet or giving it a bath. Here is a video link to help you: Video link

It is important to keep your trumpet clean in order for it to work properly. Sometimes sticky valves are a result from the trumpet being dirty. It’s also important to keep the mouthpiece clean.

What you will need is an inexpensive Trumpet maintenance kit which will usually include a snake to clean the tubings, a mouthpiece brush, valve oil, slide grease, a cloth and sometimes a valve brush. Here is one from Sweetwater, a very good reliable company. Maintenance Kit Link

The trumpet could use a bath mid-school year. Here is a link: Cleaning the Trumpet Link

Here is a link about how to fix a valve that is flopping around and seems to be broken. Broken Valve link

If your mouthpiece is stuck it is probably because the trumpet was knocked over or the student pushed it in too hard. Do not try to pull it out with any tools!!  You will damage your trumpet. There is a special tool that instrument repair shops have that can get it out. Your instructor may know a good place to take it.
