It is important to keep your trombone clean in order for it to work properly. Sometimes sticky slides are a result from the trombone slide being dirty. It’s also important to keep the mouthpiece clean.
What you will need is an inexpensive Trombone maintenance kit which will usually include a snake to clean the tubings, a mouthpiece brush, slide oil or grease, tuning slide grease, a cloth and sometimes a valve brush. Here is one from Sweetwater, a very good reliable company. Maintenance Kit Link

Trombone stands are nice way to keep your instrument safe and gives you a break from always having to hold it during a practice session. You don’t need them for school band practice but they are nice to have. Here is a link: Trombone Stand
