Band Performance Opportunities and Workshops
M.U.S.E. offers:
- 2 Multi-school concerts each year (annual Winter and Spring Concerts)
- The opportunity to perform at school for school functions(for example: talent show, grandparents day, school assemblies)
- The opportunity to participate in our annual Solo and Ensemble festival in the spring
- Students to participate in several parades: St. Patricks Day parade for bay area & Portland Junior Rose Parade or the St. Johns Parade for Oregon
- Several free band workshops during the year. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe. These workshops are also used as Band Make Up Days
Band Classes
M.U.S.E. offers group instruction on the following instruments:
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Alto Saxophone (Tenor offered for experienced players)
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Percussion (Snare drum and Xylophone)
- For Band, we offer classes for Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Instrumental Band.
- Grades 3-8 in bay area and Southern California and 4-8 in Portland
- Classes meet once a week at school or Homeschooling location
- Average Beginning Band class 6-12 students
- Intermediate and Advanced Classes can be larger
- No previous experience necessary
- Instrument Rental is separate from tuition
- Teachers are trained to teach multiple instruments in group setting
- Students are asked to practice a minimum of 3-4 days for an average of 15-20 minutes a day
- Students are asked to keep track of their practice minutes in their Practice Log in book
- Parents are asked to help support student by encouraging home practice on a regular basis and to bring them to our free band workshops, concerts, and other performance opportunities
- Students learn to read music right away
- No private lessons necessary
