For Administrators

M.U.S.E. (Musical Understanding through Sound Education) was established in 1986 by the current director of operations Bryant Allard. M.U.S.E. is in over 40 schools both in Portland and the San Francisco bay area offering quality music instruction before and after school.

M.U.S.E. offers

  • Once a week group lessons for Instrumental Band grades 3-8 in bay area and Los Angeles and grades 4-8 in Portland area
  • There is no cost to the participating schools; payments are made directly to M.U.S.E. by the parents. The cost of these lessons are half what it costs to take privately and students have the added attraction of playing in a group setting (your school band)
  • We have qualified instructors who are carefully selected for their abilities to not only teach music but inspire and motivate the students. Complete background checks are made on all teachers.
  • M.U.S.E. carries the proper liability insurance necessary.
  • Instruction in flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion (xylophone and snare drum)
  • No previous experience necessary
  • Fun multi-school winter and spring concert events scheduled
  • Other performance opportunities include: Annual Solo and Ensemble Festival, Honor Band, Parades, Free Band Workshops for students
  • In some schools we offer group piano lessons and Guitar/Ukulele Club
